CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION

POLICIES, PROCEDURES, & GUIDELINES:

Prior to participating, all participants must review the SCGA’s Policies & Procedures and COVID-19 Guidelines for Competitions.

 

FORMAT:

  • All players will participate in a 36-hole stroke-play championship (18 holes each day)
  • The championship field will be divided evenly into four flights. Players will remain in the same flight in which they qualified, which was based on Handicap Indexes as of March 8.
  • During the championship, players will use their Handicap Index as of April 12 and will receive 95% of their Course Handicap (unless otherwise noted by the SCGA).
  • Awards will be given to those who finish in 1st through 5th place in each flight. All ties in all flights will be broken using the USGA suggested method of matching scorecards (Committee Procedures: Section 5A (6)).

 

LODGING ARRANGEMENTS:

The SCGA has partnered with the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa to provide participants with discounted access to stay on-site. Reservations must be made by March 29 by clicking here.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS:

  • Players may arrange for practice rounds at their own expense by calling the Omni La Costa Golf Shop at (760) 804-7453 and identifying themselves as a participant in the championship. Practice rounds may be booked a maximum of seven days in advance.
  • Practice rounds on the Legends Course may be reserved on (subject to availability):
    • March 26
    • March 29 – 31 (after 11 a.m.)
    • April 2, 4, 6, 8, 12, 14, 16, & 17
  • Practice Round Rates:  
    • Monday – Thursday
      • Open – 2 p.m.: $95
      • 2 p.m. – Close: $65
  • Friday – Sunday
      • Open – 2 p.m.: Regular Rates
      • 2 p.m. – Close: $85

 

REGISTRATION:

All participants must check in at the SCGA registration table located on the Valley Promenade upon arrival on Monday. 

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS: 

  • Starting times and pairings will be e-mailed to players and posted online at scga.org one week in advance of the championship.
  • Starting times will range from 7:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. each day.
  • Arroyo and Mission Flights will tee off in the morning wave on Monday and in the afternoon wave on Tuesday.
  • Pacific and San Andreas Flights will tee off in the afternoon wave on Monday and in the morning wave on Tuesday.
  • Players are encouraged to arrive at their assigned tee well in advance of their starting time, as the SCGA starter will have information to discuss and distribute to each player in the group. Furthermore, players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late. Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive in time to watch the group in front of them tee off.
  • Materials such as tees and hole location sheets will not be distributed until further notice. Refer to the SCGA COVID-19 Guidelines for Competitions for further instructions.

 

TEES & YARDAGE:   

Arroyo and Mission Flights: Men will play from the combo yardage (Exceptions: Hole 7 – 524 yards; Hole 9 – 493 yards). Course Rating: 71.7 / Slope: 130 / 6,462 yards / Par 72.

 

Pacific and San Andreas Flights: Men will play from the members yardage (Exceptions: Hole 7 – 479 yards; Hole 9 – 493; Hole 17 – 483 yards). Course Rating: 70.7 / Slope: 127 / 6,260 yards / Par 72.

 

Women in all flights will play from the forward yardage. Course Rating: 73.3 / Slope: 137 / 5,438 yards / Par 73.

 

DRIVING RANGE:

  • The driving range will be available by 6:30 a.m. on each morning of the championship.  
  • Range balls will be provided compliments of Omni La Costa and the SCGA.
  • Players should arrive on-site no earlier than one hour prior to their starting time and must limit driving range usage to 15 minutes.

 

FOOD SERVICE & PURCHASES:

  • Further details will be provided closer to the championship with regard to the Resort’s F&B availability.
  • Major credit cards will be accepted for all purchases. Cash will only be accepted in limited cases.
  • Participants will receive a gift card at the registration table, which can be used for F&B purchases at the resort.

 

RULES OF PLAY:

 

AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION, PULL/PUSH CARTS:

  • Automotive transportation is included with the entry fee; however, players who are able and willing to walk may do so.
  • There will be a maximum of two carts per group and two bags per cart. Players wishing to ride will be expected to share a cart with another player, and face coverings must be worn while riding in the cart with another person.
  • Each player is entitled to one seat in a cart. If a player brings a caddie, the caddie may ride provided there is a vacant seat in one of the carts. Otherwise, either the player or the caddie must walk.
  • Drivers must be at least 16 years of age (or older if club policy dictates).
  • Pull or push carts are permitted. Additionally, Omni La Costa Resort & Spa may have additional forms of transportation available for rent.

 

CADDIES & SPECTATORS:

  • Players may provide their own caddie (see section on Automotive Transportation).
  • Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the club.
  • Caddies and spectators must wear face coverings whenever it is not possible to guarantee six feet of distance from another person.

 

DRESS CODE:

Appropriate golf attire must be worn, including adhering to any club-specific policies.

 

CANCELATIONS & REFUNDS:

  • To withdraw for any reason prior to the start of a SCGA competition, a player must notify the SCGA Championships & Golf Operations Department at champs@scga.org or (818) 980-3630.
  • Failure to notify the SCGA will subject the player to suspension from future SCGA competitions.
